Staff R&D Device Engineer
Role Summary
The Staff R&D Device Engineer will bridge process development, electrical test, and integration to define transistor architectures, run tape-outs, and perform deep diagnostic analysis. This is a hands-on role on the Process Team focused on device characterization, parameter extraction, and improving device performance and manufacturability.

Responsibilities
Work across process, test, and integration to develop and validate transistor designs and derive actionable device models.
- Design transistor architectures and tailor novel transistor structures to meet specifications.
- Execute tape-outs and validate test designs on silicon.
- Perform electrical characterization (I-V, C-V) of transistors and MOSCAPs across process splits.
- Analyze electrical and physical data to identify performance bottlenecks and recommend material or flow changes.
- Extract core device parameters and build foundational technology performance models.
Requirements
Must-have:
- Rigorous understanding of advanced CMOS/MOSFET device physics and solid-state electronics fundamentals.
- Deep experience with semiconductor device measurement (I-V, C-V) and probe station operation.
- Strong data analysis and scripting skills to accelerate testing and learning cycles.
- Ability to explain complex device-physics concepts clearly to cross-functional teams.
- Willingness and ability to comply with U.S. export control restrictions applicable to the role.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with semiconductor simulation tools (e.g., TCAD, HSPICE) and practical experience with PDKs or test-chip layout.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or MATLAB for automation and large-scale data analysis.
- Hands-on cleanroom experience and understanding of full CMOS manufacturing flow.
- Experience with semiconductor reliability testing (HCI, NBTI/PBTI, TDDB) and degradation analysis.
Education Requirements
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Solid State Physics, or a closely related field (required).
