Software Stack / Framework Engineer
Role Summary
Design and implement software layers that expose Equal1's silicon QPU to researchers and customers. Collaborate with hardware, algorithms, and control teams to build APIs, middleware, compilers, and developer frameworks for hybrid classical–quantum workflows.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include building and maintaining the software stack that interfaces with the QPU and supporting reliable, high-performance execution of quantum programs.
- Develop and maintain interfaces, drivers, and middleware for Equal1’s silicon QPU.
- Design and implement tools, APIs, and frameworks for running quantum programs efficiently.
- Collaborate with hardware, algorithms, and control engineering to define hybrid workflows.
- Optimize compilers, libraries, and runtime components for performance and reliability.
- Implement and contribute to continuous integration, testing, and system-level validation.
Requirements
Required technical skills and expected capabilities.
- Must-have: Strong programming skills in Python, C/C++, or similar languages.
- Must-have: Solid understanding of computer architecture, embedded systems, compilers, or distributed systems.
- Must-have: Experience working cross-functionally with hardware and software teams and contributing to CI/testing practices.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with LLVM/MLIR or compilation infrastructure and strategies.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with quantum computing concepts (gate models, qubits, noise); deep domain expertise not required.
- Curiosity and willingness to work across classical and quantum paradigms and grow in an emerging field.
