Role Summary

The Drivers & Virtualization Engineer owns the host-facing software boundary for Arago's accelerator. You will build and maintain kernel-level and virtualization interfaces that make the accelerator accessible, secure, and performant across bare-metal, virtualized, and multi-device cloud environments.

Work closely with hardware, firmware, and systems teams to ensure correct, isolated, and operationally safe interactions between accelerator hardware and host software stacks.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on kernel driver development, virtualization integration, and low-level hardware interaction.

• Develop and maintain high-performance Linux kernel drivers for Arago’s accelerator.
• Implement host-facing communication protocols and virtual device interfaces.
• Manage low-level hardware interactions: PCIe, DMA, MMIO, interrupts.
• Enable virtualized access using QEMU and KVM, including passthrough and device models.
• Design and implement device sharing, isolation, and resource protection mechanisms.
• Ensure memory safety and security of accelerator operations in kernel and virtualized contexts.
• Debug cross-stack failures from hardware through kernel, hypervisor, and guest OS.
• Support scaling from single-device setups to multi-device deployments.

Requirements

Core technical capabilities expected for this role.

Must-have:

• Deep knowledge of OS internals, especially kernel memory management and I/O paths.
• Strong understanding of memory safety requirements in kernel space.
• Proven, hands-on experience in Linux kernel driver development and kernel modules.
• Solid understanding of virtualization fundamentals (KVM, hypervisors) and experience integrating devices with hypervisors.
• Practical experience with emulation frameworks, specifically QEMU internals or custom device models.
• Familiarity with hardware-level protocols: PCIe, DMA, MMIO, and IOMMU.
• Fluent English for technical collaboration.

Nice-to-have:

• Proficiency in French.
• Experience with large-scale multi-device orchestration or cloud deployments.

Education Requirements
