Silicon Software Lead
Role Summary
Lead and grow the silicon software team responsible for the compiler, runtime, kernels, drivers, and hardware abstraction layer for a novel stochastic analog in-memory ASIC. Collaborate closely with hardware architects to co-design ISA and software interfaces so software requirements shape the silicon design.
Hands-on technical leadership: set technical direction, review designs and code, and unblock engineering challenges across simulation, FPGA prototypes, and silicon bring-up.

Responsibilities
Own the architecture and delivery of the silicon software stack and lead the team that implements it.
- Lead and grow a team spanning compiler, runtime, kernels, drivers, and systems software while remaining hands-on in design and code review.
- Define and own the software stack architecture from ML framework ingestion through compilation, scheduling, memory management, and execution on hardware.
- Drive software/hardware co-design: partner on ISA definition and the hardware abstraction layer to ensure programmability and compilability.
- Develop and maintain runtime, kernels, drivers, profiling, and debugging tooling for real inference workloads.
- Maintain continuity from simulation to FPGA prototypes to silicon so software development proceeds alongside hardware maturation.
- Set roadmap milestones tied to the hardware program and hire engineers to meet delivery goals.
Requirements
Key qualifications required to perform the role and preferred additional strengths.
Must-have
- Proven experience building software stacks for accelerators or non-standard hardware targets (compilers, runtimes, kernels, drivers).
- Technical leadership experience (technical lead or manager) while remaining hands-on in design and code.
- Strong systems programming skills in C++, Rust, or equivalent; fluency in Python.
- Deep understanding of ML inference workloads and constraints that affect hardware execution.
- Experience with compiler frameworks (MLIR, LLVM) or inference runtime and kernel development.
- Comfort building software for evolving hardware across simulation, FPGA prototypes, and silicon bring-up.
- Track record of hiring and developing systems engineers.
Nice-to-have
- Experience taking an accelerator software stack from zero to production in a startup or new hardware program.
- Experience with in-memory compute, processing-in-memory, or analog hardware interfaces.
- Contributions to open-source compiler or runtime infrastructure.
- Prior work where software insights shaped ISA or architecture decisions.
