Senior Manager, System Verification (SVT)

Role Summary

Lead system validation strategy and execution for coherent optical DSP products targeting data center applications. Manage end-to-end verification, cross-functional integration across DSP, optics, and analog front-end, and qualify modules with hyperscaler customers and ecosystem partners.

Experience Level

Senior — requires 12+ years of experience in coherent optical or high-speed communication systems with proven leadership in system validation.

Responsibilities

Accountable for system verification strategy, execution, team leadership, and customer/vendor qualification.

• Develop and execute end-to-end system verification plans for coherent DSP products.
• Translate system requirements into DSP performance targets (equalization, timing/carrier recovery).
• Define link budgets and align DSP performance with optical components and module partners.
• Lead system modeling and correlate models with lab measurements (e.g., RONSR, sensitivity).
• Oversee development of golden reference transceivers for benchmarking and correlation.
• Drive system bring-up, debugging, and optimization across DSP, optics, and analog front-end.
• Establish test methodologies, automation, and coverage criteria for SVT.
• Partner with customers and module vendors to accelerate qualification and deployment.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience.

• 12+ years in coherent optical or high-speed communication systems with leadership in system validation.
• Hands-on experience with lab instrumentation and automation (oscilloscope, DCA, AWG, BERT).
• Strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or C++ for test automation and analysis.
• Deep knowledge of digital communications and coherent DSP algorithms, modulation formats (QPSK, 16QAM, higher), and FEC.
• Experience with optical impairments, link budgeting, and system-level performance optimization.
• Proven ability to lead and grow a high-performing SVT team and define test coverage.
• Customer-facing skills for vendor qualification and cross-functional coordination.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with 112G/224G SERDES and high-speed electrical interfaces.
• Familiarity with framer/deframer architectures (KP4/RS-FEC, datacenter interfaces).
• Experience with coherent pluggable modules and reference platforms.

Education Requirements

MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Optical Communications, or a related field (the posting specifies MS/PhD in these areas).
