Job Title
Senior Manager / Director, System Verification (SVT)
Role Summary
Lead validation strategy and execution for coherent optical DSP technology aimed at data center applications. Own end-to-end system verification, coordinate cross-functional execution, and qualify coherent optical modules with customers and ecosystem partners.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 12 or more years of experience in coherent optical or high-speed communication systems with proven leadership in system validation.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include defining verification strategy, leading system modeling and lab correlation, and building a high-performing SVT team.
- Own end-to-end system verification strategy and execution for coherent DSP products.
- Translate system requirements into DSP performance targets (equalization, timing/carrier recovery).
- Define link budgets and align DSP performance with optical components and module partners.
- Lead system modeling and correlation with lab measurements (e.g., RONSR, sensitivity).
- Oversee development of golden reference transceivers for correlation and benchmarking.
- Drive system bring-up, debug, and optimization across DSP, optics, and analog front-end.
- Build and lead an SVT team; define methodologies and test coverage.
- Partner with customers and module vendors to accelerate qualification and deployment.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, hands-on lab experience, and leadership capability. Nice-to-have items are listed separately.
- Proven leadership and hands-on experience validating coherent DSP products at system level.
- Hands-on experience with lab instrumentation and automation (oscilloscopes, DCA, AWG, BERT).
- Strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or C++.
- Expertise in digital communications, coherent DSP algorithms, optical impairments, and link budgeting.
- Knowledge of coherent modulation formats (QPSK, 16QAM, higher-order QAM) and FEC.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with customers and vendors.
- Nice-to-have: experience with 112G/224G SERDES, high-speed electrical interfaces, framer/deframer architectures, and coherent pluggable modules.
Education Requirements
MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Optical Communications, or a related technical field. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
