Job Title
Senior Staff Validation Engineer, Silicon Validation (DC-DC Converters)
Role Summary
Technical architect for post-silicon validation of DC-DC converter products based in the Bengaluru lab. Lead silicon bring-up, characterization, and validation strategy for power-management ICs.
Mentor validation engineers, drive cross-functional debugging and test automation, and ensure product performance, reliability, and compliance with quality and safety standards.
Experience Level
Senior-level β typically requires 12+ years of hands-on post-silicon validation experience focused on DC-DC converters and power-management ICs.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities:
- Define validation architecture and methodologies from silicon bring-up through characterization and reliability testing.
- Perform hands-on silicon bring-up, bench validation and debugging using oscilloscopes, SMUs, network/spectrum analyzers, thermal chambers, and related lab equipment.
- Lead root-cause analysis of complex silicon issues and coordinate with IC design, system, firmware, and product teams to implement fixes.
- Design and review validation PCBs, test fixtures, and custom test setups; review schematics and layouts for high-frequency/high-current power circuits.
- Develop and guide automated test scripts and frameworks; contribute to selection and optimization of validation tools and infrastructure.
- Mentor and technically ramp up junior and senior validation engineers on test planning, debugging techniques, and best practices.
- Ensure validation activities adhere to quality, safety and ESD standards and maintain clear documentation of findings, risks, and recommendations.
Requirements
Must-have:
- 12+ years of hands-on electrical/electronics post-silicon validation experience with focus on DC-DC converters and power-management ICs.
- Deep knowledge of DC-DC topologies (Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost, LDOs, gate drivers) and performance parameters (efficiency, ripple, load transient, stability, EMI/EMC).
- Strong proficiency in PCB schematic and layout review for high-frequency, high-current power circuits; experience designing validation boards.
- Expertise in bench validation and debugging using high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, electronic loads, power meters, spectrum/network analyzers, SMUs, and related tools.
- Proven experience in root-cause analysis and test planning across PVT corners, operating modes, and stress conditions.
- Familiarity with EDA and simulation tools (examples: Cadence Virtuoso/Spectre, Siemens Calibre, Synopsys Verdi).
- Excellent communication and mentorship skills; ability to work in a hybrid model with a strong presence in the Bengaluru lab.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with automated test frameworks and data-analysis tools.
- Experience validating automotive or industrial-grade power ICs.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field.
