Role Summary
Full‑stack intern role building a browser-native chip design application (Studio) implemented in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly. You will own end-to-end features across client and server, from design through shipping.
The team builds interactive design tools, a collaborative sync engine, high-performance GPU rendering, and simulation pipelines used by chip designers and fabrication teams.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Intended for students or early-career engineers with substantial personal projects or equivalent practical experience in systems or tools programming.
Responsibilities
You will implement and ship production features across the stack and collaborate with engineers working on rendering, networking, and simulation.
- Design, implement, and ship Rust code that runs natively and in the browser (Wasm).
- Build low-latency interactive editing tools (editing, routing, measurement, validation).
- Contribute to a document model with diff/merge and real-time collaboration support.
- Work on a sync engine that streams edits between clients with correctness and high throughput.
- Implement GPU canvas rendering for large scenes with spatial indexing, culling, and LOD.
- Integrate and visualize simulation output (streaming waveforms and interactive tiers).
- Own features from design through testing and deployment; profile and optimize performance-critical code.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and evidence of past work. A portfolio or code samples (e.g., GitHub) are required.
- Strong Rust experience, or strong C++/systems background and willingness to learn Rust deeply.
- Solid systems fundamentals: memory, performance, concurrency, and profiling-driven optimization.
- Proven track record of building non-trivial software projects end-to-end and explaining design trade-offs.
- Ability to ship production-quality code and own features from design through release.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with game engines, ECS, scene graphs, spatial indexing, or low-latency input systems.
- Background in electrical engineering, analog/digital circuits, or exposure to EDA tools.
- Distributed or real-time systems experience: WALs, event sourcing, replication, CRDTs/OT, websockets.
- Geometry, graph/routing algorithms, spatial data structures, or optimization experience.
- Familiarity with serialization/schema evolution (Protobuf, Flatbuffers, Cap’n Proto).
- Graphics and visualization experience: custom rendering, shaders, WebGPU/Vulkan/OpenGL pipelines.
