Job Title

RTL Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join Normal Computing's ASIC design team to develop RTL and verification infrastructure for silicon that applies thermodynamic principles to efficient AI inference. The role spans RTL design, verification, and close collaboration with architecture and physical design through tapeout and post-silicon bring-up.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically 3–7 years of relevant experience. Candidates should have production RTL and at least one tapeout experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Design and verify digital logic for thermodynamic hardware and AI-focused ASIC blocks.
  • Write synthesizable RTL in SystemVerilog for various blocks and datapaths.
  • Author functional verification environments using UVM, cocotb, or formal methods.
  • Translate specifications into microarchitectures in collaboration with architects.
  • Work with physical design on timing closure, constraints, and floorplanning.
  • Develop and maintain simulation infrastructure and regression pipelines.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to architectural decisions.
  • Support tapeout preparation and post-silicon bring-up activities.

Requirements

Must-have and useful skills:

  • Must-have: Hands-on production experience writing RTL in SystemVerilog.
  • Must-have: Experience authoring verification environments using UVM, cocotb, or formal tools.
  • Must-have: At least one tapeout (any company size) and experience across design and verification disciplines.
  • Must-have: Practical experience with datapaths, pipelines, or custom logic and strong debugging skills in simulation and formal verification.
  • Nice-to-have: ASIC/SoC design background and familiarity with AI chip design and verification processes.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience working with physical design on timing closure, floorplanning, and timing constraints.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience developing simulation/regression infrastructure and automated flows.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
