Automotive Software Solutions Engineer

Role Summary

Develop and integrate reference applications and platform-level software for NXP automotive platforms. Work spans firmware, drivers, OS layers (bare-metal, RTOS, Linux/QNX), communication stacks and domain libraries.

Member of the Platform Integration team delivering complex automotive applications; collaborate with product owners, program managers, field application engineers and third parties to build, validate and demonstrate platform software.

Responsibilities

The role covers full software lifecycle and integration work; primary responsibilities include:

• Design, implement and review software components and reference applications.
• Integrate firmware, drivers and middleware across bare-metal, RTOS and Linux/QNX environments.
• Test, debug and fix defects; improve code quality and performance.
• Maintain and enhance continuous integration workflows and build processes.
• Prepare documentation and present demo applications to stakeholders.
• Work in an Agile team and address product backlog items: new features, porting, bug fixes and CI improvements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes:

• Strong C/C++ programming skills.
• Solid knowledge of software architecture, design patterns and optimization techniques.
• Experience developing applications for embedded systems.
• Scripting skills (Python, Bash) for automation and CI tasks.
• Excellent problem-solving, debugging and technical presentation skills.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Nice-to-have:

• Familiarity with RTOS, Linux or QNX in automotive contexts.
• Experience with firmware, drivers and communication stacks.
• Strong focus on efficiency, performance and CI/CD best practices.
