Quantum Process Integration Lead (FEOL)
Role Summary
Lead development and integration of front-end-of-line (FEOL) fabrication processes for superconducting quantum processors and multi-layer chip stacks. Work with cross-functional teams to define device specifications, experimental plans, and scalable fabrication and integration procedures.
Focus areas include Josephson junctions, metallization, through-silicon vias, and process reliability and manufacturability as the platform scales to larger, more complex systems.
Experience Level
Senior — the role expects experienced candidates; the posting recommends 4+ years of relevant chip development experience in deep-tech or low-volume technology.
Responsibilities
Lead FEOL process and integration activities and ensure robust, scalable chip development.
- Plan and lead development of front-end fabrication technologies targeting performance, reliability, and manufacturability of quantum devices.
- Define fabrication development projects, device specifications, and design-of-experiment plans.
- Develop and coordinate integration and integration-test plans with cross-functional teams.
- Formalize and document chip development processes and establish scalable integration procedures.
- Investigate and resolve integration issues, technical anomalies, and deviations from specifications.
- Implement process control and monitoring methods to improve yield and repeatability.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience to perform the role.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in chip development for deep-tech or low-volume manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with process-flow development, including electron-beam lithography (EBL), metal and dielectric depositions, and patterning.
- Experience with process control and monitoring structures and methods.
- Proven ability to define and run design-of-experiment cycles and to lead cross-functional integration work.
- Strong problem-solving skills for investigating integration failures and aligning outcomes to specifications.
- Nice-to-have: prior work with superconducting qubits and familiarity with cryogenic device integration challenges.
Education Requirements
Preferred background in quantum physics, microwave/RF/electrical engineering, or a related field. A PhD is mentioned as a plus.
