Quantum Measurement Engineer – QPU Diagnostics & Calibration
Role Summary
Senior measurement and calibration engineer on the Quantum Processor team responsible for experimental characterization, diagnostic protocol development, and performance optimization of superconducting QPUs. Deliver measurement routines and analyses that isolate loss mechanisms, quantify crosstalk, budget gate errors, and improve operational fidelities for next-generation processors.
Experience Level
Senior — 5+ years of hands-on experience in cryogenic measurement of multi-qubit superconducting quantum processors.
Responsibilities
Lead measurement campaigns from hypothesis to reporting and work closely with design and software teams to translate results into device improvements.
- Create and refine advanced measurement protocols to improve gate and readout fidelities and identify bottlenecks (e.g., noise and TLS spectroscopy, gate error budgeting).
- Design and execute experiments to validate and benchmark design changes such as coupling schemes, filtering, and crosstalk mitigations.
- Develop diagnostic tooling to isolate loss mechanisms, quantify crosstalk, and characterize signal integrity.
- Analyze measurement datasets, produce clear reports, and present findings to engineering teams to guide device upgrades.
- Own measurement campaigns end-to-end: experiment design, cooldown, data acquisition, analysis, and final reporting.
- Collaborate with QPU Design, Measurement, and Software Engineers to integrate experimental feedback into development cycles.

- Must-have: Strong ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate results and drive design changes across teams.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with noise/TLS spectroscopy, gate error budgeting, measurement automation, or building data pipelines for experiments.
