Role Summary

Own the microarchitecture for key blocks in the A-0 and A-1 systems, translating specifications into implementable RTL and driving those designs through to silicon. Collaborate with architects, physical design (PD) teams, verification, and system integration to meet performance, power, and area (PPA) targets.

Hybrid role with teams operating in the San Francisco Bay Area, Austin, and Boston.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting does not state a specific years-of-experience range but requires prior ownership of microarchitecture across multiple advanced-node tapeouts.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include owning block microarchitecture, translating specs to RTL, and collaborating across teams to deliver silicon.

• Own microarchitecture for assigned blocks from specification through RTL and silicon tapeout.
• Translate system and block specifications into implementable RTL microarchitectures.
• Optimize microarchitecture decisions for performance, power, and area (PPA).
• Collaborate with architects, PD, verification, and integration teams to ensure block-level and system-level correctness.
• Drive integration of blocks into the broader system and resolve system-level interactions.
• Support tapeout activities and post-silicon bring-up when required.

Requirements

Must-have technical experience and skills:

• Proven ownership of the microarchitecture of at least one block across multiple advanced-node tapeouts.
• Deep understanding of how microarchitecture choices impact PPA and techniques to improve PPA.
• Understanding of system-level architecture and block integration.
• Experience translating specifications into implementable RTL and working with PD teams to realize designs in silicon.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with microarchitecture of AI chip blocks, especially matrix multiplication engines.
• Knowledge of matrix multiplication engine numerics and implications for microarchitecture.
• Experience with microarchitecture at 5nm and below nodes.
• Experience with physical design flow at 7nm and below nodes.
