Product Quality Engineer (PQE), Failure Analysis

Role Summary

Manage quality lab operations and failure analysis in Pohang, delivering material characterization, reliability assessments, and root-cause investigations to resolve complex product and manufacturing issues.

Lead lab capability development, partner with cross-functional engineering teams and suppliers, and drive issues from initial analysis through resolution.

Experience Level

Mid-level — requires at least 3 years of relevant experience in failure analysis, laboratory engineering, or related engineering fields.

Responsibilities

Accountable for lab operations, technical investigations, and capability improvements.

• Lead quality lab operations, manage resources, and drive technical capability development.
• Perform failure analysis, material characterization, and root-cause investigations.
• Develop and execute analysis strategies for complex engineering issues.
• Partner with cross-functional teams and suppliers to resolve product and manufacturing issues.
• Support manufacturing initiatives through lab analytical capabilities.
• Improve lab efficiency and capabilities through automation, data analytics, and AI.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, experience, and language abilities; preferred items listed separately.

• 3+ years experience in failure analysis, laboratory engineering, reliability, or quality engineering.
• Hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as SEM, FIB/SEM, AFM, FTIR/Raman, X-ray/CT, LIT, TDR, and Probe Station.
• Experience with polymers, adhesives, thin films, semiconductor/display materials, or electronic components.
• Strong analytical and root-cause problem-solving skills; strong technical documentation and communication skills.
• Experience working with cross-functional engineering teams and suppliers.
• Proficiency in written and verbal English and Korean.
• Nice-to-have: experience with OLED/display technologies, semiconductor processes, electrical/optical/material/structural failure analysis, lab leadership, AI/machine learning and advanced data analytics for engineering, and high-volume manufacturing support.
• Preferred: ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related technical field.
