Hardware Engineer, Analog
Normal ComputingJob Title
Hardware Engineer, Analog
Role Summary
Design core mixed-signal circuits and IP that enable an unconventional computing architecture. Own end-to-end analog development from clean-sheet circuit design through parasitic extraction and silicon bring-up, collaborating closely with architecture, digital, layout, and EDA teams.
Work focuses on high-throughput, energy-efficient analog blocks and memory-peripheral designs intended for production silicon.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The role expects engineers with practical tapeout and silicon bring-up experience; no explicit years-of-experience requirement is stated.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Design analog circuits, library cells, and macros to meet architecture specifications.
- Lead the full analog design flow: research, exploratory design, schematic, layout, extraction, and characterization.
- Develop or acquire analog IP and integrate it into silicon designs.
- Evaluate and design memory subsystems, including SRAM, DRAM, and compute-in-memory (CIM) architectures.
- Collaborate with silicon architecture, digital, layout, and EDA teams to support tapeout and silicon bring-up.
- Contribute to or direct analog EDA tool development and automation.
Requirements
Must-have:
- Experience developing analog IP from specification to GDSII, with tapeout and silicon bring-up.
- Practical experience with memory technologies at the core level (bitcells and peripheral circuits).
- Designed and characterized custom bitcells in schematic and layout.
- Fluent with Cadence analog flow (Virtuoso, Spectre, assembler/characterization tools, extraction, layout).
- Deep understanding of noise, variability, and their impacts on silicon performance and reliability.
Nice-to-have:
- Led, taped out, and brought up CIM chips.
- Experience in chip measurement, debug, and characterization in a lab environment.
- Used scripting or AI tools (Python, Perl, etc.) to automate design flows and post-process measurement data.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
