Role Summary

Join SiFive's System Validation team to develop and maintain build flows for modelling RISC-V CPUs on Synopsys ZeBu and other FPGA-based platforms. The role focuses on integrating ZeBu model compilation into SiFive's wake-based build environment, automating runtime flows, and supporting hardware/software validation and debug.

Entry-level — 1+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Build and maintain a modular flow for creating Synopsys ZeBu models using SiFive's internal build system.
• Transition compilation steps into the wake-based build environment for integration with internal flows.
• Perform root-cause and failure analysis across RISC-V CPU hardware and software components.
• Use ZeBu debug features (waveform dumping) and external debuggers (ILA, JTAG) to troubleshoot and validate designs.
• Develop systematic failure hypotheses and execute step-by-step elimination of causes.
• Create and maintain Python-based scripts to automate and enhance debug workflows and integrate ZeBu runtime automation with SiFive's management systems.
• Collaborate closely with software and validation engineering teams.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

• Strong understanding of digital logic design.
• Experience with Verilog and porting designs to FPGA platforms.
• Practical experience with Linux and scripting in Python and BASH.
• Experience performing root-cause analysis across hardware and software stacks.
• Familiarity with hardware debug tools and methods (waveforms, ILA, JTAG).
• Ability to develop automation and debug scripts to improve validation workflows.
• Good communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally; proactive attitude toward learning and quality.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Electronics and Communication Engineering. The posting specifies 1+ years of experience.
