Yield Enhancement Engineer - Physical Failure Analysis
Role Summary
Work within Micron's Yield Enhancement organization to identify and resolve yield issues for next-generation memory technologies through electrical diagnostics and physical failure analysis. The team focuses on data-, device-, and process-driven analysis to improve device performance and manufacturing yield.
Experience Level
Mid-level — the role expects approximately 3+ years of relevant semiconductor yield or failure-analysis experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Analyze probe, parametric, and fabrication data to identify yield issues.
- Perform electrical diagnostics and physical failure analysis to determine root causes.
- Develop and apply techniques to isolate and characterize device failures.
- Collaborate with process, integration, and cross-functional teams to resolve yield detractors.
- Present findings and support technology transfer to manufacturing sites.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 3+ years experience in semiconductor yield analysis or failure analysis.
- Understanding of semiconductor fabrication and device physics.
- Experience with data analysis, statistics, or coding tools.
- Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis and communicate technical findings.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with memory devices and architecture.
- Hands-on experience with SEM, FIB, TEM, or related analysis tools.
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, materials science, or a related field. Preferred: Master’s degree or PhD in engineering, physics, materials science, or related field; equivalent practical experience may be acceptable where specified.
