Job Title

Working Student (f/m/d) — Application Engineering (Automotive Ethernet PHY)

Role Summary

Support the application engineering team in validation, testing and evaluation of automotive Ethernet PHY products. The role combines hands-on lab work with technical analysis and structured test documentation.

Entry-level / Working student. Ongoing university studies; no specific years of professional experience required.

Responsibilities

Work with the application engineering team to set up, verify and document PHY hardware and board-level tests.

  • Assemble, modify and rework electronic circuits; perform soldering and hardware handling.
  • Set up and configure test environments and measurement equipment (power supplies, DMMs, oscilloscopes).
  • Bring-up and verify test/evaluation boards, including power interfaces and PHY functional behavior.
  • Reproduce customer hardware configurations and software sequences for functional evaluation.
  • Execute physical-layer tests and conformance testing according to industry standards.
  • Create structured test reports and documentation of results.

Requirements

Must-have skills and practical attributes required for the role. Preferred items are listed after must-haves.

  • Must-have: Basic knowledge of analog and digital electronics.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical measurements (voltage, current) and signal analysis using oscilloscopes.
  • Basic programming skills in Python and C, and familiarity with related toolchains.
  • Basic understanding of version control workflows (e.g., Git, SVN).
  • Hands-on mentality and willingness to work in a lab environment; careful handling of sensitive components.
  • Reliable, security-conscious working practices (role may involve security-related tasks and certification scopes).
  • Nice-to-have: Practical experience with lab tools and measurement equipment, experience reading schematics and debugging hardware, and familiarity with communication interfaces (Automotive Ethernet, CAN, SPI).

Education Requirements

Ongoing university studies in electrical engineering, information technology, computer engineering, computer science, or a closely related technical field (working-student enrollment). The role may involve tasks within the scope of security certifications and requires a reliable, security-aware approach to work.
