Yield Enhancement Electrical Failure Analysis Engineer

Role Summary

Performs investigative electrical failure analysis to identify, categorize, and resolve defect issues that impact manufacturing yield. Works within the Yield Enhancement organization in partnership with Fab and Yield Engineering to monitor probed material, prioritize investigations, and deliver analysis and reports that support root cause identification and yield improvement.

The role requires hands-on failure analysis, data-driven investigation, and communication with cross-functional teams to enable continuous yield improvement.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include monitoring probed material, performing failure investigations, and reporting findings.

  • Monitor recently probed material, perform manual yield accounting, and categorize dead die using defect references.
  • Investigate new or unknown defect issues through advanced data analysis, documentation, and communication with part owners.
  • Perform electrical and failure analysis following area skill guidelines and summarize results in clear reports.
  • Mentor and assist failure analysis technicians with yield investigations, complex testing, and analysis techniques.
  • Operate and support lab equipment while adhering to safety guidelines and supporting department objectives.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform electrical and failure analysis as defined by area skill guidelines.
  • Experience conducting advanced data analysis to support yield investigations and failure analysis.
  • Ability to summarize investigation findings, including potential root cause, in a clear report.
  • Ability to operate lab equipment safely and perform basic troubleshooting.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience mentoring or assisting failure analysis technicians during yield investigations.
  • Familiarity with Micromate (uM3), Merlin/Raptor tester platforms, emission tools, MPI probe stations, and nanoprobe tools.
  • Knowledge of device structure and function for current and future parts.
  • Experience in continuous improvement initiatives or cross-functional projects.

Education Requirements

Bachelors or masters degree in electrical engineering, computer science, materials science, or chemical engineering.
