Yield Diagnostics Engineer (up to Staff)
QualcommJob Title
Yield Diagnostics Engineer (up to Staff)
Role Summary
Lead yield analysis and diagnostics for digital and high-voltage ASIC product lines to identify yield limiters, drive root-cause resolution, and scale automated, repeatable yield engineering solutions. Work cross-functionally with foundry, test, product, and quality teams to improve yield across wafer sort, final test, and system-level screening.
Experience Level
Senior level. The posting references experienced candidates (typical expectations ~5+ years in industry for advanced degrees; see Education Requirements for degree-specific minimums).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership of yield and diagnostics activities and building scalable monitoring and automation.
- Perform end-to-end yield analysis across wafer sort, final test, and system-level screening.
- Identify yield detractors via statistical data mining, failure-signature analysis, and silicon correlation.
- Lead cross-functional root-cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions with foundry, test, and process teams.
- Develop and scale yield monitoring frameworks, KPIs, and automated dashboards.
- Drive automation and methodology improvements to increase engineering efficiency and scalability.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and domain experience; education and degree-level minimums are in the Education Requirements section below.
- Proven experience in yield analytics, diagnostics, and semiconductor data analysis in high-volume manufacturing.
- Track record of driving yield improvement during production ramps.
- Solid understanding of digital design architecture and DFT methodologies (scan, ATPG).
- Familiarity with test flows including ATE and system-level test (SLT) and correlating test data to silicon behavior.
- Experience performing statistical analysis and failure-signature correlation; comfortable with data-driven decision making and tooling.
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of high-voltage devices (e.g., LDMOS) and device-characteristic interpretation.
- Hands-on semiconductor process-integration support and experience in yield ramp activities.
- Deep expertise in scan diagnosis techniques and volume-yield analysis tools.
- Experience applying ML/AI techniques to yield analytics and diagnostics.
Education Requirements
Degrees: Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. Minimum qualifications specify degree-based experience substitutions (e.g., B.S. + 4+ years; M.S. + 3+ years; Ph.D. + 2+ years) β equivalent practical industry experience is accepted per those rules.
