Role Summary

Lead a multidisciplinary organization responsible for advancing defect metrology, yield engineering systems, and AI-enabled decision intelligence in a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment. Define long-term strategy and execute enterprise-scale programs that embed data, automation, and AI into factory operations to improve yield, cycle time, and productivity.

This role partners with process integration, metrology, data science, IT, equipment, and manufacturing teams to deliver predictive and prescriptive yield management systems across sites.

Responsibilities

Accountable for strategic program definition, cross-functional execution, and operational yield performance across development and high-volume manufacturing.

  • Define and execute a multi-year Yield and Defect Engineering strategy that integrates AI/ML, automation, and digital transformation.
  • Lead enterprise-level programs to move from reactive analysis to predictive/prescriptive yield management systems.
  • Champion deployment of AI and agentic AI solutions for defect detection, classification, excursion prevention, and root cause analysis.
  • Drive integration of data platforms, digital twins, and advanced analytics into yield and defect systems.
  • Oversee yield performance, lead resolution of complex yield limiters and defect excursions, and institutionalize closed-loop learning systems.
  • Define defect metrology strategy, tool selection, capability roadmaps, and scalable defect management system architecture.
  • Operate cross-functionally translating executive vision into roadmaps, milestones, and disciplined execution; influence senior stakeholders and executives.
  • Build and develop a high-performing organization and next-generation leaders with engineering and data/AI fluency.

Requirements

Key must-have skills, technologies, and experience for successful performance in the role.

  • 12+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing with deep domain expertise in yield engineering, defect metrology, or process integration.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale, cross-functional programs and delivering measurable results in high-volume manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and deliver enterprise-level engineering systems, platforms, or transformation programs.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder influence, and communication skills across technical and business audiences.
  • Experience overseeing yield performance, ramp-to-volume activities, and defect reduction at scale.
  • Position of Trust requirement: must consent to and pass an extended background investigation as required by company policy.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience leading AI/ML transformation initiatives and integrating analytics or data platforms into manufacturing workflows.
  • Familiarity with digital manufacturing ecosystems (MES integration, data platforms, advanced analytics tools).
  • Experience with advanced packaging technologies and defect metrology tools and inspection systems.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Data Science, or a related field is required. An advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a relevant technical or data-centric discipline is preferred.
