Yield Analytics Engineer
Role Summary
Work onsite in Penang to apply data analytics, statistics and machine learning to identify and resolve yield and quality issues in semiconductor assembly and test. Define process flow, procedures and equipment configurations for technology transfer and high-volume manufacturing.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The role requires at least 5 years of Assembly & Test or semiconductor processing experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include ownership of yield analysis, continuous improvement and cross-functional coordination in manufacturing.
- Define roadmaps, flows, procedures and equipment configurations for incoming technology transfers.
- Extract insights from structured and unstructured data using statistics, machine learning and scripting (e.g., SQL, Python).
- Own sustaining and continuous improvement of quality, defect and parametric measurements in startup and high-volume manufacturing.
- Lead low-yield analysis and drive yield-improvement actions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Implement and maintain continuous improvement programs to prevent yield and quality excursions.
- Perform quality and reliability risk assessments for discrepant materials and process changes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and work behaviors.
- Minimum 5 years of Assembly & Test or semiconductor processing experience.
- Experience writing scripts for data extraction and analysis (SQL, Perl, JSL, Python, etc.).
- Proficiency with data analysis, statistics and practical application of model-based problem solving.
- Ability to synthesize large volumes of data and drive actionable solutions.
- Strong teamwork, leadership, written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, able to prioritize and solve problems in ambiguous environments.
- Preferred: demonstrated technical expertise in process/systems thinking and second-order problem solving; experience with yield prediction methodologies and design-for-yield principles; deep knowledge of assembly process and metrology data.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering; Computer Science; Information Systems; Chemistry; or Physics. The posting specifies these degrees alongside the minimum experience requirement of at least 5 years in Assembly & Test or semiconductor processing.
