Yield Analysis Engineer
Role Summary
Join Micron's Boise Expansion Team to improve fab yield through data analysis, defect characterization, and root-cause investigations. You will work with Process Integration, Process Engineering, and Failure Analysis to identify yield limiters and implement corrective actions.
The role combines semiconductor device knowledge, statistical analysis, and AI-enabled tools to prioritize issues and deliver sustainable yield improvements in high-volume manufacturing.
Experience Level
Mid-level - minimum 3+ years of semiconductor manufacturing experience; expects domain experience in device physics and data analysis tools.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include monitoring yields, analyzing data, and driving cross-functional resolution.
- Monitor probe yields and trends to detect yield excursions and quantify yield loss.
- Perform advanced data analysis and develop yield paretos to prioritize issues and guide factory actions.
- Apply statistical and data-mining techniques to identify root causes and improvement opportunities.
- Correlate electrical, physical, and manufacturing data with Failure Analysis and Process teams to resolve issues.
- Develop automation, analytical approaches, and best-known methods to scale yield improvements across global teams.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and skills required to perform the role.
- 3+ years of semiconductor manufacturing experience.
- 2+ years of experience in semiconductor physics, transistor operation, device scaling, reliability, CMOS circuits, or characterization methods.
- 2+ years using data-analysis tools such as JMP, Python, or similar software.
- Experience applying AI, machine learning, or generative AI tools to enhance data analysis and automate workflows.
- Ability to correlate electrical measurements with physical and process data and work effectively with Failure Analysis and Process teams.
- Strong analytical thinking and clear technical communication skills.
Preferred / Nice-to-have:
- DRAM manufacturing experience.
- 2β4 years of Yield Analysis or RDA experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Experience with defect inspection, metrology, process control, and failure analysis methodologies.
- Experience using AI-assisted analytics for anomaly detection and yield improvement.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical field. Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
