Working Student, Software Quality Assurance

Role Summary

Working student position in the DRAM Engineering Group (Munich) focused on validating web-based engineering tools and building automated test coverage. The role partners with developers to catch defects early, improve CI/release readiness, and deliver reliable tooling for semiconductor test workflows.

Experience Level

Entry-level (working student). Suitable for current university students; typically 0–2 years of practical experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include manual and automated testing, defect reporting, and supporting release processes.

  • Execute functional, regression, and exploratory testing for web applications.
  • Create and maintain automated tests at unit, integration, and end-to-end levels.
  • Document defects with clear reproduction steps and work with developers to resolve them.
  • Contribute to acceptance criteria and test plans for feature releases.
  • Support CI pipeline health and release readiness activities.
  • Participate in code reviews and team quality discussions to improve test coverage and processes.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and communication abilities; preferred items listed separately.

  • Must-have: Proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript for writing and maintaining test scripts.
  • Hands-on experience with Git and standard software development workflows.
  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail; able to identify edge cases and reproduce defects reliably.
  • Good written and spoken English for cross-functional, international collaboration.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with test frameworks such as pytest, Playwright, Vitest, or Selenium.
  • Basic understanding of REST APIs and database structures for backend validation.
  • Exposure to CI/CD environments (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and familiarity with release pipelines.
  • Experience applying AI tools to increase testing or development productivity is a plus.

Education Requirements

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's (or equivalent) program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field. Micron references education level when determining working-student remuneration.
