Working Student – ProFi Lab (m/f/d)
Role Summary
Working student position in the R&D Characterization Lab of the Business Group Bipolar Discretes. The role supports development and improvement of benchmark discrete semiconductor devices through electrical characterization and automation of measurement setups.
You'll work in a small team of engineers and technicians, collaborating with R&D on device testing from femtoamp to kilovolt and GHz ranges.
Experience Level
Entry-level — working student / current Bachelor or Master student. No specific prior years of professional experience required; suitable for students seeking part-time lab experience.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include hands-on electrical testing and improving measurement processes.
- Perform electrical characterization measurements on discrete semiconductor devices.
- Develop and maintain automated measurement setups and scripts.
- Operate and support lab test equipment and safety procedures.
- Record, analyze and document measurement results; report to engineers and technicians.
- Collaborate with the R&D team to refine test methods and benchmarks.
Requirements
Must-have practical skills, language and availability; technical equipment experience listed as beneficial.
- Basic programming ability, preferably in Python (for automation and data handling).
- Fluent German and English, written and spoken.
- Precise, observant, motivated, and able to work independently while asking for help when needed.
- Availability up to 18 hours per week; able to work on-site in Hamburg.
- Nice-to-have: experience with oscilloscopes, pulse generators and high-voltage equipment.
Education Requirements
Currently enrolled Bachelor or Master student in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a similar technical field. Equivalent practical experience as a student researcher or lab assistant is acceptable.
