Job Title
Wireless RF PHY Firmware Engineer
Role Summary
Develop and implement embedded firmware for SoC bring-up and wireless connectivity enablement with emphasis on PHY bring-up, RF calibrations, signal-processing algorithm implementation, and performance tuning. The role partners closely with RF/Radio design, PHY/System engineering, product software, validation, and manufacturing teams to enable productization of wireless silicon.
Experience Level
Senior β 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include firmware development for silicon bring-up, validation, and manufacturing support.
- Design and implement embedded firmware for SoC bring-up and wireless PHY/RF enablement.
- Develop system-level APIs and firmware functionality to meet product and manufacturing requirements.
- Implement and tune RF/PHY calibrations and signal-processing algorithms for production readiness.
- Develop SoC test and calibration capabilities for wafer, module, and system factories.
- Debug real-time systems using development boards and lab equipment, working with limited visibility.
- Support pre-silicon validation (simulation, emulation, FPGA prototyping) and post-silicon bring-up, validation, and performance characterization.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with RF/Radio design, DVT, PHY, system, product SW, and manufacturing teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required for immediate impact.
- Proven experience implementing embedded firmware for SoC bring-up and PHY/RF enablement.
- Experience implementing and tuning signal-processing algorithms and RF/PHY calibrations.
- Strong real-time embedded systems skills: multithreaded environments, interrupt handling and latency management, multi-core considerations, and HW/FW semaphore/resource management.
- Hands-on debugging experience with development boards and lab instrumentation.
- Experience supporting pre-silicon validation (simulation, emulation, FPGA prototyping) and post-silicon bring-up and system integration.
- Ability to work effectively across hardware, firmware, validation, and manufacturing teams.
- Nice-to-have: prior experience in wireless SoC, RF/analog, PHY or manufacturing test/calibration.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree (BS) and 10+ years of relevant industry experience. No specific field of study or certifications were specified in the posting.
