Windows Driver Developer

Role Summary

Develop and maintain Windows device drivers and low-level software for Snapdragon-based Windows devices. Work on an Agile Scrum team responsible for bringing up, supporting, triaging, and optimizing Windows-on-Snapdragon products across the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, implementation, debug, and cross-team coordination for Windows driver and platform software.

  • Design and implement Windows device drivers and platform features for Snapdragon SoCs.
  • Participate in Agile Scrum activities: requirements, design, implementation, code review, and testing.
  • Bring up and debug embedded systems and SoC platforms; triage issues with internal teams and external partners (e.g., OS vendors).
  • Use low-level debugging tools and techniques to resolve kernel and driver issues.
  • Profile and optimize system and driver performance.
  • Document designs, test plans, and troubleshooting steps; support product releases and maintenance.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and responsibilities; preferred items listed separately.

  • Must-have: Experience with embedded Windows software development and solid understanding of operating system concepts.
  • Must-have: Kernel development experience on Windows and/or Linux.
  • Must-have: Strong C/C++ programming skills; experience with scripting (Shell or Python) for automation and debugging.
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience debugging ARM or other SoC-based embedded systems.
  • Must-have: Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-team coordination skills.
  • Must-have: Authorization to work where the position is posted; this role is not eligible for Qualcomm immigration sponsorship.
  • Nice-to-have: Device driver programming and debugging experience with WinDbg, JTAG or similar tools.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of processor architecture, cache subsystems, ARM assembly, embedded OS internals, and performance profiling/optimization techniques.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Preferred: Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. (The posting did not state an equivalent experience exception or require advanced degrees.)
