The role sits in R&D/product application teams in Milpitas, CA and interfaces directly with customers to define requirements, validate methods on customer wafers, and transfer capabilities into production.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 10+ years of relevant experience in electron beam inspection (EBI) or SEM-based applications for semiconductor manufacturing.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include application development, technical leadership, and customer engagement.

  • Develop advanced SEM-based voltage contrast inspection applications for logic and memory nodes.
  • Analyze customer process flows, device circuits, and failure analysis challenges to define technical requirements.
  • Design and run complex experiments on customer wafers to validate and optimize methodologies and system performance.
  • Transfer new application capabilities from R&D to customer-facing and production teams.
  • Provide technical leadership on defect detection, yield analysis, and process control issues.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to influence tool enhancements and long-term roadmaps.
  • Lead technical reviews with internal and external stakeholders and represent the company at industry forums.
  • Generate intellectual property through new methodologies and innovative solutions.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience for immediate contribution.

  • 10+ years experience in electron beam inspection (EBI) or SEM-based applications for semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Deep expertise in voltage contrast imaging, device physics, and process technology for advanced logic and memory nodes.
  • Proven ability to translate customer problems into actionable application strategies and product requirements.
  • Experience designing experiments and optimizing imaging/system performance on real wafers.
  • Strong customer-facing and communication skills; experience leading technical engagements.
  • Track record of driving innovation and contributing to patents and long-term technology roadmaps.
  • Ability to collaborate across R&D, product, and field teams to enable production integration.
