VLSI Design Engineer for Server / Data Center Products
QualcommJob Title
VLSI Design Engineer for Server / Data Center Products
Role Summary
Design and deliver RTL, SoC integration, and verification for high-performance ASICs targeting server and data-center products. Join an ASIC/SoC engineering team working on architecture, logic design, and system-level simulation for next‑generation compute and AI applications.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typical candidates have multiple years of ASIC/SoC design experience (see Education Requirements for degree-to-experience mapping). Preferred candidates have 5+ years of relevant ASIC design experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver RTL/SoC design and support verification, integration, and documentation; participate in architecture and design reviews and improve design flows.
- Implement RTL and follow design protocols for SoC and IP blocks using standard ASIC tool flows.
- Define architecture, logic design, and perform large-scale design integration and system simulation.
- Resolve architecture, design, and verification issues with sound engineering practices and minimal supervision.
- Develop and execute design and verification strategies for IPs, SoCs, and subsystems.
- Identify and drive flow and process improvements, including automation opportunities.
- Participate actively in design and architecture reviews; present results and analyses to peers and leads.
- Collaborate across teams, share knowledge, and provide feedback from silicon bring-up to improve methodology and IP.
- Document designs and maintain design artifacts for ASIC development lifecycle.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and domain knowledge; nice-to-have items noted.
- Practical ASIC RTL design experience (digital design, synthesis, timing closure, floorplanning, DFT awareness).
- Experience with SoC/IP design and verification practices and methodologies.
- Proven knowledge of server/data-center IPs, protocols, and interfaces.
- Strong understanding of design techniques for high speed and power efficiency.
- Experience with architecture definition, logic implementation, and system-level simulation.
- Good problem solving, analytical skills, and ability to participate in technical reviews.
- Effective verbal and written communication; experience working in cross-functional teams.
- Nice-to-have: experience designing arithmetic/computational/machine-learning IPs and scripting/tools for process automation.
Education Requirements
Degree and experience options stated in the posting: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field with 4+ years of ASIC design/verification/integration experience; OR Master's degree (preferred fields: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering) with 3+ years of relevant experience; OR PhD in Science or Engineering with 2+ years of relevant experience. Related field or equivalent relevant work experience is accepted per the minimum-qualification mappings in the posting.
