Job Title

Product Engineer, Calibre Design Enhancer

Role Summary

Join the Calibre Product Engineering team to define, validate, and deploy features for Calibre DesignEnhancer. The role bridges customers, application engineering, product management, and R&D to convert customer design challenges into product requirements and usable solutions.

This is a technical, customer-facing engineering role focused on semiconductor physical design, automated layout optimization, and deployment of new product capabilities.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically requires 5+ years of relevant semiconductor industry experience in physical design, physical verification, EDA product engineering, applications engineering, or design methodology.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Act as technical expert for Calibre DesignEnhancer and related Calibre physical-design and verification tools.
  • Engage directly with semiconductor customers and field engineers to understand workflows and technical challenges.
  • Translate customer problems into product requirements, use cases, specifications, and success criteria.
  • Work with R&D through concept, prototype, validation, and production release; evaluate capabilities on representative designs and provide technical feedback.
  • Investigate complex design-flow problems, perform root-cause analysis, and develop practical solutions and methodologies.
  • Develop expertise in DesignEnhancer use models such as layout optimization, via and power-grid enhancement, and verification readiness.
  • Support customer evaluations, benchmarks, early-adopter programs, and deployment of new product capabilities.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations, demonstrations, training, and documentation for customers and internal teams.
  • Collaborate with geographically distributed engineering, product, and customer teams; travel domestically and internationally as required.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Relevant semiconductor industry experience in physical design, physical verification, EDA product engineering, applications engineering, or design methodology.
  • Strong understanding of the IC physical-design flow, including floorplanning, place-and-route, routing and design closure, physical verification/DRC, power distribution networks, EM/IR considerations, and signoff flows.
  • Experience using EDA tools within production semiconductor design flows.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex technical problems, determine root causes, and produce practical solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to explain complex technical topics to varied audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with R&D, field engineering, product management, and customers.
  • Experience working in Linux environments.
  • Scripting or automation experience using Python, Tcl, shell scripting, or similar languages.

Nice-to-have:

  • Hands-on experience with Calibre physical-verification products or Calibre DesignEnhancer/RealTime workflows.
  • Experience with industry place-and-route tools (e.g., Cadence Innovus, Synopsys Fusion Compiler/ICC2) and advanced-node implementation challenges.
  • Familiarity with EM/IR analysis, power-grid optimization, LEF/DEF, GDSII/OASIS, and foundry PDKs.

Education Requirements

BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
