Vision Architect, RL Silicon
Meta PlatformsJob Title
Vision Architect, RL Silicon
Role Summary
Define long-term architectural direction for vision and imaging processing subsystems in custom SoCs for wearable devices. Lead cross-functional alignment across silicon design, software, research, and product teams to translate vision workloads into multi-generation silicon roadmaps.
Experience Level
Senior - requires 12+ years of experience in silicon architecture, algorithm development, or hardware design focused on computer vision, imaging, or video processing subsystems.
Responsibilities
Accountable for architecture, specification, and cross-team coordination for vision and imaging subsystems across multiple silicon generations.
- Define and own multi-generation architecture for ISP pipelines, computer vision accelerators, and associated memory hierarchies within custom SoCs.
- Establish microarchitectural frameworks and design principles balancing performance, power, area, and programmability.
- Drive architectural exploration and feasibility studies for next-generation vision workloads, including real-time inference and video analytics on wearables.
- Develop and maintain architectural specifications, performance models, and design guidelines for RTL implementation and verification teams.
- Lead cross-functional architecture reviews through design, physical implementation, and post-silicon validation to preserve architectural intent.
- Define performance benchmarks and silicon KPIs; evaluate industry trends and third-party IP strategies to inform build-versus-buy decisions.
- Mentor architects and engineers and partner with post-silicon and systems teams to validate assumptions and iterate roadmaps.
Requirements
Concise list of must-have skills and desirable experience.
- Must-have: 12+ years of experience in silicon architecture, algorithm development, or hardware design focused on computer vision, imaging, or video processing subsystems.
- Experience developing cycle-accurate or transaction-level performance models for vision or imaging processing engines.
- Experience driving architecture definition across full silicon development cycles from concept through post-silicon validation for wearable applications.
- Experience collaborating with AI, computer vision, or machine learning teams to map algorithmic workloads onto custom silicon architectures.
- Nice-to-have: integration experience with neural-network accelerators or tensor pipelines; experience influencing multi-generation silicon roadmaps through written proposals and executive-level communication; software-hardware co-design experience; algorithm optimization for GPUs, DSPs, or custom ASICs.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
