Video Design Verification Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Video Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
The Video Design Verification Engineer will support verification activities for video IP blocks and related SoC integration within the ASICS Engineering group. The role focuses on implementing and executing verification strategies, collaborating across design and implementation teams, and delivering documented verification results for high-performance, low-power ASIC products.
Experience Level
Entry-level. The posting indicates candidates with roughly 6+ months of relevant experience; suitable for early-career engineers (approximately 0–2 years of experience).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include planning and executing verification tasks for video IP and supporting block/SoC flows.
- Create and execute verification plans, testbenches, stimuli, and checks for video IP blocks and their integration into SoCs.
- Assist in architecture and specification reviews and translate system-level requirements into verification tasks.
- Use ASIC implementation tool flows to support verification across RTL-to-GDS, synthesis, place-and-route, and timing/power analysis or equivalent custom layout flows.
- Debug RTL and system-level issues, analyze simulation results, and coordinate fixes with design teams.
- Produce technical documentation for EDA/IP/ASIC verification projects and communicate results to stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have practical skills and experience for the role.
- Minimum ~6 months experience with architecture and design tools related to ASIC/SoC development.
- Minimum ~6 months experience with scripting tools and programming languages for verification tasks.
- Minimum ~6 months experience with design verification methods and verification environment development.
- Familiarity with ASIC flows and EDA toolchains (RTL-to-GDS flow, synthesis, place-and-route, timing and power analysis) and/or custom circuit/layout flows (e.g., Virtuoso).
- Ability to write clear technical documentation and to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Nice-to-have: experience with C++ and algorithmic concepts applied to verification.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field. Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. "Related field" allowances were mentioned for the bachelor's requirement.
