Job Title

Engineer I - Design

Role Summary

As an entry-level RTL designer on Microchip's ASIC/SoC engineering team, you will design, simulate, and verify RTL blocks used across imaging, networking, compute, and storage products. The team implements hard and soft IP, supports synthesis and timing closure, and ports designs to test chips and emulation platforms.

Experience Level

Entry-level - 0–2.5 years of experience in RTL design for ASIC implementation.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include RTL development, verification, and supporting implementation and bring-up.

  • Architect and implement detailed RTL modules; perform performance analysis and produce design specifications.
  • Participate in RTL implementation, synthesis, simulation, and pre-/post-layout timing verification.
  • Perform static timing analysis and cross-domain clocking analysis.
  • Support design porting to test chips, emulation, and FPGA platforms; board implementation experience is advantageous.
  • Collaborate with verification, layout, and systems teams to meet schedule and quality requirements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes.

  • Proficiency in SystemVerilog and RTL design for high-speed data and control logic.
  • Experience with RTL tools: design entry, synthesis, formal verification, RTL/gate-level simulation.
  • Familiarity with static timing analysis and cross-domain clocking methodologies.
  • Ability to design complex state machines and datapath logic.
  • Proficiency in scripting (TCL, Perl, Python) and Linux environments.
  • Strong written and oral communication; able to produce clear design specifications and presentations.
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, and able to work to schedule requirements.
  • U.S. export-control: must provide proof of U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or protected status per 8 USC 1324b(a)(3).
