Job Title

Staff Video BSP Engineer

Role Summary

Design and develop board support package (BSP) software and low-level drivers for camera and video subsystems on Qualcomm IE-IOT SoC platforms. Work spans Linux and RTOS environments and includes sensor integration, ISP and video pipeline enablement, platform bring-up, and system validation.

Collaborate with hardware, architecture, validation, product, ODM, and customer teams to deliver production-ready camera/video solutions for edge AI, surveillance, robotics, and industrial applications.

Experience Level

Senior (Staff). The posting indicates senior-level experience: typical guidance includes approximately 6–10+ years depending on degree (examples: Bachelor's +8 years or Master's +6 years in embedded software; preferred 10+ years overall).

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include design, integration, and delivery of camera/video BSP and platform software.

  • Design, develop, and maintain device drivers and BSP software for sensors, ISP, CSI, and video processing on Linux and RTOS.
  • Implement and optimize kernel drivers, middleware, and low-level components for performance, power, latency, and reliability.
  • Port and adapt software across OSes, SoC platforms, and product generations; perform platform bring-up on development boards, FPGA emulation, and silicon.
  • Perform system-level debugging, performance profiling, and memory/power optimization.
  • Support camera enablement, video capture, ISP tuning integration, and system validation.
  • Analyze and resolve complex integration issues and provide technical support to ODMs, customers, and ecosystem partners.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and preparing design documentation and reviews.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; education and degree details are listed separately under Education Requirements.

  • Proficient in embedded C/C++ and developing Linux kernel drivers and BSP software.
  • Experience with camera and video subsystems: image sensors, MIPI CSI, ISP pipelines, and video encode/decode pipelines.
  • Familiarity with ARM-based SoC architecture, MMU/IOMMU/SMMU, DMA, interrupts, synchronization, device trees, power management, and boot flows.
  • Hardware-software integration and platform bring-up experience; familiarity with FPGA emulation or pre-silicon environments.
  • Strong debugging and validation skills using GDB, JTAG, logic analyzers, performance profiling tools, and root-cause analysis.
  • Experience with toolchains and workflows: GCC/Clang, Git, Yocto/Buildroot, embedded Linux build systems.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills; experience supporting customers and ODMs and working across distributed teams.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with Ambarella, Novatek, SigmaStar, Amlogic or similar embedded SoC platforms.
  • Familiarity with secure boot, TEE/system security, Always-On Video (AOV), low-power camera applications, and ISP tuning integration.
  • Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, Agile development, and delivery of production-ready camera/video solutions.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.

Education Requirements

Degrees referenced: Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or related technical fields. The posting provides degree-plus-experience alternatives (examples): for embedded software a Bachelor's degree plus ~8+ years or a Master's plus ~6+ years; a separate hardware-applications minimum lists Bachelor's +4+ years, Master's +3+ years, or PhD +2+ years. The posting also allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of a degree.
