Verification Hardware Engineer
Role Summary
Verify complex digital designs for Qualcomm’s DSPs and coprocessors targeting AI/ML solutions. The role develops testbenches, verification plans, and works with design, architecture, and software teams to ensure silicon quality.
Position is part of ASICS Engineering within the Engineering Group.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Minimum qualifications specify a Bachelor’s plus 2+ years, Master’s plus 1+ year, or PhD; typical candidates have 1–5 years of relevant ASIC or verification experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include planning and executing verification activities and maintaining verification infrastructure.
- Develop and implement SystemVerilog/UVM testbenches.
- Design and execute verification plans from specifications and architecture documents.
- Apply object-oriented design to build scalable, reusable verification components.
- Define test strategies and ensure comprehensive coverage in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Write and maintain scripts (Python, Perl, Shell) to automate verification flows.
- Debug and resolve complex issues in simulation and emulation environments.
- Contribute to verification infrastructure and methodology improvements.
- Communicate progress, issues, and solutions to stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Proficiency in SystemVerilog and UVM methodology.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and testbench architecture.
- Experience with scripting languages (Python, Perl, Shell) for automation.
- Solid digital design fundamentals and computer architecture knowledge.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with formal verification or emulation platforms.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Exposure to SoC-level verification and constrained-random testing.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field plus 2+ years of ASIC design/verification/validation/integration experience; OR Master’s degree in Science, Engineering, or related field plus 1+ year of relevant experience; OR PhD in Science, Engineering, or related field. Related technical fields are acceptable.
