Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for defining verification scope, developing verification infrastructure, and verifying correctness of CPU and SoC designs at cluster and full-chip level. Works within a global verification team collaborating with architects, RTL designers, FPGA and emulation engineers to ensure project verification requirements are met and to support post-silicon bring-up and debug.
Experience Level
Mid-level β requires 2+ years of relevant verification or engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Define verification scope and develop verification plans and infrastructure for cluster and full-chip verification across projects.
- Design and run verification environments/testbenches for CPU and SoC blocks using industry-standard methodologies.
- Collaborate with architects, RTL designers, FPGA and emulation engineers to close verification requirements and resolve design issues.
- Perform debug, root-cause analysis, and verification closure including post-silicon bring-up and debug support.
- Work on verification infrastructure and processors technologies, and contribute to improvements across the verification pipeline.
- Communicate results and coordinate with geographically distributed, cross-functional teams.
Requirements
Key skills and experience required or strongly preferred.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills; ability to diagnose complex hardware/software interactions.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively on a team.
- Solid understanding of basic CPU/SoC architecture and verification architecture.
- Experience collaborating with geographically distributed, cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with verification tools (VCS or equivalent), debug tools (e.g., Debussy, GDB).
- Experience with SystemVerilog, UVM, SystemC and verification testbench architecture.
- Familiarity with C/C++ and scripting languages (Perl, Python).
- Experience with verification infrastructure for SoCs with embedded processors or CPU verification.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree (BS/MS) required, with 2+ years of relevant experience.
