Verification Applications Engineer
Role Summary
Provide technical customer support for Synopsys verification tools to diagnose simulation, debug, and coverage issues and help customers meet tape-out schedules. Work within the Customer Success Group in Hyderabad and collaborate with R&D and global applications teams.
Customer-facing role that combines hands-on debug, workflow automation, and knowledge transfer; occasional onsite travel may be required.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Early career - requires at least 2 years of experience in verification or digital design.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include troubleshooting, customer engagement, and improving verification workflows.
- Support customers using Synopsys verification tools to diagnose simulation failures, debug issues, and address coverage gaps.
- Analyze customer testbenches and design environments to identify root causes and propose practical, methodology-aligned solutions.
- Troubleshoot SystemVerilog/UVM testbenches and coverage-driven verification flows, including low-power verification scenarios.
- Develop scripts and automation in Tcl, Python, or Perl to reproduce issues, automate workflows, and demonstrate best practices.
- Collaborate with R&D to escalate complex issues and provide feedback to influence product improvements.
- Assist customers through tape-out cycles to remove verification bottlenecks and keep schedules on track.
- Travel occasionally to customer sites for technical engagements, training, or critical project support.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and behaviours for success; preferred items listed separately.
- Strong fundamentals in digital design and hands-on experience with Verilog or VHDL.
- Working knowledge of SystemVerilog and dynamic simulation concepts, including testbench development and debug.
- Proficiency in UNIX/Linux environments and scripting with Tcl, Python, or Perl.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for direct customer interaction and technical explanation.
- Ability to reproduce customer issues, prioritize multiple cases, and deliver pragmatic fixes.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for customer visits or on-site support.
- Nice-to-have: experience with Synopsys tools such as VCS or Verdi.
- Nice-to-have: exposure to UVM, coverage-driven verification, and low-power verification techniques.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field plus 2+ years of experience in verification or digital design, or a Master's degree in Electronics. Equivalent practical verification experience is implied by the job's experience requirement.
