Job Title
Validation/Verification Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Staff-level validation and verification engineer responsible for silicon validation and characterization of high-speed analog ICs (SerDes PHYs) in an R&D lab. Works with analog designers, hardware and firmware engineers to debug silicon, develop test hardware, and automate test flows.
Experience Level
Senior β requires at least 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary tasks and expected contributions:
- Perform comprehensive validation and characterization of silicon implementations of high-speed analog ICs in a lab environment.
- Debug silicon under test and troubleshoot associated hardware systems to identify root causes.
- Design and develop test boards and hardware fixtures to support robust test and debug activities.
- Execute detailed characterization tests and produce clear, actionable test reports for cross-functional teams.
- Apply circuit theory to interpret measurement data and explain device behavior and limitations.
- Automate test procedures using Python and develop custom FPGA-based test flows (Verilog) as needed.
- Collaborate with analog designers, hardware, and firmware teams to improve silicon performance and resolve issues.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Strong analog IC circuit knowledge and hands-on experience with silicon validation and characterization.
- Proven experience debugging complex hardware systems and using advanced lab equipment (oscilloscopes, BERTs, network analyzers).
- Proficiency in Python for test automation and data analysis.
- Working knowledge of FPGA development and Verilog for test and verification purposes.
- Familiarity with interface protocols such as PCI Express and Ethernet.
- Understanding of NRZ and PAM4 signaling and common communication interfaces (JTAG, I2C, SPI).
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills for reporting and cross-team collaboration.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a related technical field is requested; the posting allows equivalent practical experience. The role specifies a minimum of 5+ years of direct industry experience in related validation/verification or analog hardware roles.
