Job Title
Validation/Verification Engineering, Senior Manager
Role Summary
Lead silicon validation for high-speed SerDes PHY IP, managing a cross-functional Silicon Validation team of analog designers and hardware engineers in a state-of-the-art lab. The role owns silicon bring-up, debug, characterization, test reporting, and lab infrastructure to ensure IP meets performance specifications for customer integration.
Experience Level
Senior β Manager / Senior Manager level. Specific years of experience not stated.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage a cross-functional silicon validation team focused on high-speed SerDes PHY implementations.
- Direct the review and debug process for silicon under test, resolving signal integrity and performance anomalies.
- Oversee characterization test execution and produce detailed test reports that meet timelines and quality standards.
- Coordinate design and development of custom test boards and hardware solutions to support bring-up and debugging.
- Mentor engineers on debugging techniques, lab equipment use, and application of analog circuit theory to real silicon behavior.
- Collaborate with design, product engineering, and IP teams to align validation results with project goals and drive design improvements.
- Build and maintain lab infrastructure and processes for testing high-speed interfaces (USB, PCI Express, SATA, Ethernet).
- Establish best practices and reusable test frameworks to improve debug efficiency and characterization quality.
Requirements
Key qualifications and technical skills.
- Extensive hands-on experience in analog IC circuit design and validation for high-speed circuits and SerDes PHYs.
- Proven track record leading and managing technical, cross-functional teams (design and hardware engineering).
- Strong debugging skills with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and high-speed probing tools.
- Solid understanding of high-speed interface protocols: USB, PCI Express, SATA, and Ethernet.
- Experience with NRZ and PAM4 encoding techniques and their impact on signal integrity and testing.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience using MATLAB or Python for test automation and data analysis.
- Basic FPGA programming experience (Verilog) for test and bring-up tasks.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
