Senior Engineering Leader, Analog / Mixed-Signal IC Design
Role Summary
Lead and provide hands-on technical direction for an Analog and Mixed-Signal IC design organization responsible for advanced semiconductor products in high-speed connectivity and communications. The role spans people management, architecture ownership, cross-functional collaboration, and delivery from concept through tape-out and production release.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical experience guidance: BS in Electrical Engineering +11 years, MS +9 years, or PhD +6 years of relevant IC design and leadership experience.
Responsibilities
Accountable for technical leadership, team development, and delivery across analog/mixed-signal IC programs.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership and set technical direction for analog and mixed-signal IC design programs.
- Drive architecture decisions, design roadmaps, and execution plans across distributed teams.
- Translate system and product requirements into block-level specifications and implementation plans.
- Lead design reviews, technical tradeoffs, risk assessments, and execution checkpoints.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop analog/mixed-signal/RF designers; manage performance and career development.
- Coordinate with system engineering, digital design, CAD, technology, validation, and product teams to improve flows and schedules.
- Oversee IC development through tape-out, validation, and production release, ensuring manufacturability, quality, performance, schedule, and cost targets.
- Interface with customers and senior stakeholders during development and release phases.
- Represent the design organization in senior technical and business discussions.
- Drive continuous improvement in design methodology, tools, and team capability.
Requirements
Must-have technical and leadership qualifications.
- Extensive experience in analog, mixed-signal, and/or RF IC design with a proven record of tape-outs and product releases.
- Deep understanding of analog and mixed-signal design principles, including high-speed/high-performance circuit design.
- Hands-on experience with advanced CMOS process technologies.
- Proven experience managing, mentoring, and developing engineering teams and delivering complex programs.
- Strong technical judgment; ability to make architecture and implementation decisions.
- Experience working across system, digital, CAD, validation, product, and operations teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present technical topics to executives and customers.
- Strong program management, problem-solving, decision-making, and execution skills; results-oriented delivery focus.
- Collaborative leadership style with ability to influence across organizational boundaries.
- Nice-to-have: domain experience in communications/connectivity/data infrastructure and high-speed blocks (receivers/transmitters, data converters, clocking, equalization).
Education Requirements
BS in Electrical Engineering or related field with 11+ years of relevant experience; or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field with 9+ years; or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field with 6+ years of relevant experience.
