Validation/Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Field-facing engineer responsible for installing, validating, and maintaining Synopsys emulation and prototyping hardware at customer sites and internal labs. The role focuses on ensuring systems are deployment-ready, diagnosing and resolving hardware/firmware/integration issues, and feeding field insights back to engineering and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

Primary duties involve on-site installation, validation, troubleshooting, and documentation of emulation and prototyping systems.

• Install, configure, and validate emulation and prototyping hardware in customer and internal lab environments to meet performance and deployment requirements.
• Troubleshoot hardware, firmware, networking, and system integration issues across boards, chassis, power distribution, and peripherals; perform root cause analysis and drive fixes to closure.
• Develop and execute validation procedures to confirm hardware quality and system integration prior to handoff.
• Document failure modes, corrective actions, and deployment metrics to support continuous improvement and knowledge transfer.
• Coordinate with Hardware Engineering, R&D, and Manufacturing to surface product issues and recommend reliability improvements.
• Support manufacturing reviews and quality initiatives by providing field data and insights.
• Travel domestically and internationally (approximately 70%); support installations, upgrades, relocations, and escalations often on short notice and outside normal business hours.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and work conditions; a few items listed as strong pluses.

• Proven experience with hardware installation, integration, or validation in lab, manufacturing, or field environments.
• Skilled at troubleshooting across hardware, firmware, and system-level integration using diagnostic tools such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and multimeters.
• Experience working with networking equipment, power systems, cabling, and rack-level infrastructure in data centers or labs.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to ~70% internationally and domestically; flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends during critical work.
• Ability to work independently in the field, prioritize multiple installations/issues, and communicate status and technical findings clearly to customers and internal teams.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with emulation, prototyping, or FPGA-based verification platforms.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred; equivalent hands-on technical experience is acceptable.
