Job Title
Validation Engineer – Pre & Post Silicon Functional Validation, Compute Subsystem (CSS)
Role Summary
Validate subsystem IPs and platform functionality across pre-silicon and post-silicon phases for the Compute Sub-System (CSS). Develop validation solutions, execute test plans, debug hardware/software issues, and collaborate with Architecture, Design, DV, Firmware, and Software teams to ensure high-quality silicon delivery.
Experience Level
Entry-level; 2–3 years of relevant industry experience expected.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute pre-silicon and post-silicon validation plans for compute subsystems.
- Build and maintain test environments, automation frameworks, and validation infrastructure using emulation and silicon platforms.
- Perform system-level functional validation for CPU clusters, coherent interconnects, memory controllers, and peripheral integration.
- Drive root-cause analysis of hardware, firmware, and software issues with cross-functional teams.
- Develop diagnostic, stress, and performance workloads to validate functionality, power, and performance.
- Support silicon bring-up, board-level testing, and post-silicon lab validation.
- Analyze coverage gaps and contribute to validation efficiency and quality metrics.
- Contribute to automation and continuous integration of validation workflows.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and skills:
- 1–3 years industry experience in SoC, subsystem, or IP-level functional validation.
- Understanding of ARM-based SoC architecture, AMBA protocols (AXI/ACE/CHI), cache coherency, and CPU subsystems.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and scripting in Python for test automation and analysis.
- Experience with hardware validation equipment (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, JTAG) and simulation/emulation environments.
- Familiarity with C-based IP drivers and firmware for system bring-up.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills for triaging hardware/software interactions.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with silicon bring-up and board-level debug.
