Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Digital Multiphase Controllers Validation Team in Austin, TX to perform silicon and board-level evaluations that verify product compliance with marketing, industry, and design requirements. The role supports prototype validation, documents errata, and delivers evaluation plans and reports to meet the product schedule.
You will work closely with validation teams across locations, core engineering teams, and the validation lead to find and resolve device- and system-level issues and to improve test automation and evaluation flow.
Experience Level
Entry-level — BS with up to 2 years of experience, or MS with 0 years of experience.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities are to execute silicon evaluation tasks, report results, and improve validation processes:
- Perform chip- and board-level silicon device evaluations and document errata to support device updates.
- Prepare and deliver silicon evaluation plans, measurement reports, and regular status updates aligned to the validation schedule.
- Track progress against schedule, raise blockers promptly, and support the Validation Lead with new requirements or tasks.
- Coordinate with core teams to identify and resolve application (system) and silicon-related issues.
- Develop hardware and software for automated measurements to increase test efficiency.
- Propose and implement improvements to the silicon evaluation flow and test automation.
- Ensure lab equipment calibration is current and maintain calibration records and certificates.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Knowledge of semiconductor production flows and handling of silicon devices in a validation environment.
- Validation and debugging skills for system, hardware, and mixed-signal devices.
- Experience using and automating lab and test equipment for device characterization.
- Programming skills for measurement automation, primarily Python.
- Familiarity with SCPI commands for instrument control.
- Understanding of common communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, SVID, SVI3, AVS, and PMBUS.
- Results-oriented, able to meet tight schedules, self-managing, and adaptable to changing tasks.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience validating power-management devices, digital multiphase controllers, and DC/DC converters.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (BS) with up to 2 years of experience, or a Master’s degree (MS) with no prior experience. The posting also allows equivalent practical experience.
