ASIC ESV Content Developer (Entry Level)

Role Summary

Entry-level engineering role on Ericsson's SW/FW Development Team in Austin, TX focused on validation and debug of ASIC hardware used in 5G/6G systems. The developer writes tests, drivers, and automation to validate silicon and improve test coverage.

This position involves close collaboration with ASIC architects, hands-on lab testing, and contributing to test frameworks and infrastructure.

Experience Level

Entry-level (recent graduates, approximately 0–2 years professional experience).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on writing and validating code and test infrastructure to exercise ASIC hardware.

• Design, implement, and test ASIC device drivers and test cases using C/C++ within the Zephyr RTOS framework.
• Develop framework and infrastructure components in Python for automated test environments.
• Assess and visualize test-case coverage to identify gaps and prioritize quality improvements.
• Execute hands-on lab testing and proof-of-concept verification of code and coverage changes.
• Participate in technical discussions to diagnose issues and improve scalable testing frameworks.
• Collaborate with ASIC architects to define coverage plans and support hardware debug activities.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred.

• Must-have: Experience with C/C++ and Python, especially in hardware or embedded software projects.
• Must-have: Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments and basic bash scripting.
• Must-have: Practical experience with GIT and developer IDEs.
• Must-have: Hands-on lab experience managing Linux-based systems and setting up test platforms.
• Must-have: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to work independently and in teams.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with Zephyr RTOS, device driver development, automated test frameworks, or test-coverage visualization tools.
• Exposure to ASIC validation workflows and test automation best practices.

Education Requirements

Recent graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field (degree explicitly referenced in the posting).
