Job Title

UVM Digital Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Member of Draper's Digital Design Team responsible for planning and executing verification for FPGA and ASIC designs across domains such as embedded security, cryptography, signal and image processing, navigation, and communications.

Deliver verification strategies, develop UVM testbenches and agents, and work with multi-disciplinary teams to close functional and code coverage on complex designs.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically 3–5 years of industry experience with a bachelor's degree, or 0–2 years with a master's degree. Recent hands-on UVM/SystemVerilog verification experience is expected.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include verification planning, implementation, and collaboration with RTL and system teams.

  • Develop verification and test plans; author and execute verification strategies.
  • Design and implement UVM agents and block/chip-level UVM testbenches.
  • Instantiate and integrate VIP for industry-standard buses.
  • Drive coverage closure: implement covergroups, address code and functional coverage to meet targets.
  • Use formal analysis tools and constrained-random testing to validate designs.
  • Debug simulations with RTL designers and resolve functional/simulation issues.
  • Perform code reviews and mentor junior verification engineers.
  • Use scripting and automation to improve verification productivity in a Linux environment.
  • Comply with requirements to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • Fluent in SystemVerilog, including SVA.
  • Recent experience with UVM or UVMF.
  • Familiarity with at least one major simulator (QuestaSim, Xcelium, VCS).
  • Experience with IEEE bus standards and common protocols (examples: DDR3/DDR4, AMBA AXI).
  • Strong understanding of constrained-random testing and coverage-driven verification.
  • Experience with formal analysis tools.
  • Proficient scripting skills (Python, Perl, Bash, or similar) and experience working in Linux.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills; attention to detail and time management.

Education Requirements

Requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field; a master's degree is preferred. Relevant study areas include Integrated Circuits, ASIC Hardware Engineering, or related electrical/computer engineering fields. The posting allows 3–5 years' experience with a bachelor's or 0–2 years with a master's as alternative experience routes.
