Job Title

UVM Digital Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Join Draper's Digital Design Team to develop and execute verification strategies for complex digital and mixed-signal FPGA and ASIC designs in embedded security, cryptography, signal/image processing, navigation, and communications.

The role focuses on building UVM testbenches, developing verification plans, running simulations and formal analysis, and collaborating with RTL designers to close functional and code coverage.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical experience expectation: 3–5 years with a bachelor's degree, or 0–2 years with a master's degree.

Responsibilities

Primary tasks and deliverables for the role.

  • Develop verification strategies, author and execute verification plans.
  • Design and implement UVM agents and testbenches for block- and chip-level verification.
  • Instantiate and use VIPs for industry-standard buses; validate DDR3/DDR4 and AMBA AXI interactions.
  • Create constrained-random tests, implement covergroups, and drive coverage closure (code and functional).
  • Use formal analysis tools to supplement simulation-based verification.
  • Run and debug simulations with major commercial simulators (e.g., Questa, Xcelium, VCS).
  • Work with RTL designers to resolve simulation failures and implement fixes.
  • Perform code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and document verification results.
  • Support system-level hardware design reviews, feasibility studies, and performance/power trade-offs.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and qualifications.

  • Fluent in SystemVerilog, including SVA; recent hands-on UVM/UVMF experience.
  • Practical experience with at least one major simulator (Questa, Xcelium, or VCS).
  • Experience with constrained-random verification and coverage-driven methodologies.
  • Experience with at least one IEEE bus standard and familiarity with DDR3/DDR4 and AMBA AXI protocols.
  • Experience using formal verification tools.
  • Familiarity with scripting in Python, Perl, Bash, or similar and working in a Linux environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform detailed design and verification documentation and meet project deadlines.
  • Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Education Requirements

Requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field; master’s degree preferred. The posting allows equivalent experience to satisfy degree expectations (experience guidance: 3–5 years with a bachelor’s, or 0–2 years with a master’s).
