Job Title

SOC Emulation Engineer - Hardware Emulation Infrastructure

Role Summary

Support and develop the hardware emulation infrastructure for multiple SoC projects. Work with emulation vendors and internal teams to integrate transactors, maintain emulation build/run tooling, and provide technical support to emulation users.

Day-to-day work includes integrating transactors into RTL testbenches, developing Python-based test frameworks, maintaining C++ bindings and CMake flows, and triaging issues across software and hardware stacks. This is a hybrid role based in Santa Clara, CA or Austin, TX.

Experience Level

Entry to Mid-level (1–3 years of relevant chip design, verification, or emulation experience)

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include integrating emulation components, building test frameworks, and supporting emulation users.

  • Integrate vendor and custom transactors into RTL testbenches, resolving clock domain and tri-state issues.
  • Develop and maintain Python-based test frameworks for emulation runs and validation.
  • Implement and maintain C++ bindings (pybind11) and manage CMake-based compilation flows for emulation libraries.
  • Triaging and debugging across the stack: Python tests, C++ bindings, firmware, and SystemVerilog RTL.
  • Support emulation users across multiple chip projects and provide technical troubleshooting.
  • Optimize emulation build and run tooling for performance and reliability at scale.
  • Gather requirements and coordinate between hardware designers and software/driver teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • 1–3 years experience in chip design, verification, or emulation.
  • Proficient in Python for automation and test development.
  • Working knowledge of C++ and experience with building Python bindings (pybind11).
  • Familiarity reading and navigating SystemVerilog RTL.
  • Experience integrating transactors and handling clock/reset synchronization and tri-state resolution.
  • Experience maintaining CMake-based build flows for native/emulation libraries.
  • Strong debugging and triage skills spanning software and hardware components.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Synopsys Zebu or other large-scale emulation platforms.
  • Familiarity with modern AI code-assist tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) to accelerate development.
  • Experience with RISC-V platforms or large SoC projects.

Education Requirements

Preferred background in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. The posting references 1–3 years of practical experience; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
