Job Title
AI/ML Physical Design Flow Engineer
Role Summary
Lead cross-functional efforts to develop and deploy RTL-to-GDS physical design methodologies and AI/ML-driven tooling across advanced process nodes. The role focuses on improving power, performance, area (PPA) and runtime through data-driven and ML-enabled techniques, working closely with internal teams and EDA vendors.
Hybrid role based in Santa Clara, CA (options in Austin, TX or Fort Collins, CO).
Experience Level
Mid-level β expects approximately 5+ years of experience in physical design CAD methodology; candidates at different levels may be considered during interview.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include architecting, integrating, and productionizing physical design flows and ML-enabled capabilities.
- Lead cross-functional efforts to solve complex physical design challenges across IPs, projects, and advanced nodes.
- Develop and maintain RTL-to-GDS methodologies: floorplanning, synthesis, place-and-route, STA, signoff, and assembly.
- Architect, validate, and deploy AI/ML-driven solutions in production flows to improve engineering efficiency, turnaround time, and QoR.
- Optimize EDA tools and custom CAD flows using data-driven and ML-based techniques.
- Collaborate with verification, extraction, timing, DFT, and EDA vendors to integrate solutions and support tapeout-quality designs.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and demonstrated experience.
- Approximately 5+ years of experience in Physical Design CAD methodology at advanced technology nodes.
- Proven track record improving PPA and/or runtime on high-performance, low-power taped-out designs.
- Hands-on experience with industry-standard EDA tools across synthesis, P&R, STA, signoff, and hierarchical flows (e.g., Fusion Compiler).
- Strong scripting and data skills (Python, Tcl) and the ability to analyze and act on design data.
- Experience with or strong interest in ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow) applied to EDA problems.
- Ability to independently drive complex projects and coordinate across teams and vendors.
- Eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled technology may be required; offers may be contingent on citizenship, permanent residency, or export license approval.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred; or equivalent practical experience (the posting states "BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or equivalent experience)").
