Job Title

UVM Digital Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Join Draper’s Digital Design Team to develop and execute verification strategies for complex digital and mixed-signal FPGA and ASIC designs. The role focuses on UVM-based verification, coverage-driven testing, formal analysis, and collaboration with RTL designers to close functional and code coverage.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically 3–5 years of industry experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 0–2 years with a master’s degree.

Responsibilities

Responsible for planning and delivering verification for block- and chip-level designs using modern methodologies and tools.

  • Develop verification strategies and author/execute verification plans.
  • Design and implement UVM agents and UVM testbenches for block and chip levels.
  • Instantiate and integrate VIP for industry-standard buses; verify bus protocols (e.g., DDR3/DDR4, AMBA AXI).
  • Create constrained-random tests, implement covergroups, and drive coverage closure to target coverage goals.
  • Apply formal analysis tools to supplement simulation-based verification.
  • Debug RTL/simulation issues and collaborate with RTL designers to resolve them.
  • Perform code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to verification best practices.
  • Automate flows and regression using scripting and work in a Linux environment.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and conditions for the role.

  • Fluent in SystemVerilog, including SVA; recent practical experience with UVM/UVMF.
  • Experience with at least one major simulator (Questa, Xcelium, VCS or equivalent).
  • Practical experience with constrained-random testing, coverage-driven verification, and coverage closure processes.
  • Experience with formal verification tools and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with common bus standards (examples: DDR3/DDR4, AMBA AXI) and VIP integration.
  • Scripting skills (Python, Perl, Bash, or similar) and ability to work in Linux-based flows.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
  • Nice-to-have: prior work on embedded security, cryptography, signal/image processing, navigation, or communications projects.

Education Requirements

Requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred. Relevant fields cited include Integrated Circuits, ASIC Hardware Engineering, or related technical engineering disciplines.
