Role Summary
Entry-level trainee role within Synopsys' high-frequency and RF simulation domain. The role supports development of microprojects and demonstrators targeting 5G–6G and next-generation communication systems for academic engagement.
Work includes performing electromagnetic simulations, translating academic research into reproducible examples, producing educational materials for university partners, and supporting internal technical initiatives and workshops.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Trainee role for recent graduates and junior engineers. Suitable for candidates qualifying for a formative training contract for junior graduates without prior work experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on simulation, demonstrator development, and academic engagement.
- Develop and support microprojects related to 5G–6G and next-generation communication systems.
- Perform high-frequency electromagnetic simulations (microwave, mmWave, sub-THz) using HFSS and related tools.
- Investigate electromagnetic challenges in miniaturization, high-speed interconnects, antenna design, and packaging.
- Translate academic research topics into reproducible simulation examples and demonstrators for university use.
- Create educational content and learning materials based on developed microprojects to support teaching and academic engagement.
- Support internal strategic initiatives in high-frequency and RF simulation domains, including workshops and research-oriented deliverables.
- Manage and prioritize multiple small projects, maintaining documentation and reproducibility of results.
Requirements
Core technical skills and professional attributes expected for the role.
Must-have:
- Solid knowledge of electromagnetic theory and high-frequency systems.
- Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools, especially Ansys HFSS.
- Programming skills in Python or MATLAB; interest in automation.
- Clear, structured communication skills for academic and multicultural contexts.
- Proactive attitude, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Technical curiosity and willingness to learn new tools and methodologies.
Nice-to-have / Preferred:
- Familiarity with RF, antenna design, IC/PCB modeling, and advanced packaging topics.
- Experience or interest in AI/ML applied to automation and simulation workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Education Requirements
Graduating this year from a master's degree in Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering (Master's level). The position is offered under a Spanish formative training contract for junior graduates without prior work experience.
